Okay. My OTP and a ‘ship I hate. Quick sticks.
Gilmore Girls: the shine has way fallen off this show for me and I hope some day I will come back to it and love it again as much as I did when I first fell for it back in what, 2004? When was season four? So I had to think. OTP: Luke and Lorelai, always always. Love ‘em even when they gave me LITERAL STOMACH ACHES THAT IS WHEN YOU SHOULD STOP WATCHING TV SO MUCH. ‘Ship I hate: basically Rory/anyone. Like, I love Rory, and I liked Jess, but Rory disappeared into relationships in unhealthy ways and it was gross. The same thing often happened to Lorelai. Boys brought out the worst in them. Which is why as much as I don’t ship Rory/anyone, Lorelai/Christopher (followed by Lorelai/Digger by a nanosecond) is my anti-ship of all time. Infantile, gross, acting out weird adolescent bullshit, selfish, destructive. And that’s just Christopher on his own, but it becomes the relationship, too. Which is why “French Twist” gives me the heaves.
West Wing. OTP: I feel like if I don’t say CJ/Toby, the internet will disown me (particularly andthenisay’s corner of the internet), and they are, but also? Kinda Josh/Donna, because Donna is my favorite, and Josh is my favorite. And the ‘ship I can’t stand would have to be the idea of CJ/Haynes. I want more than that for Claudia Jean.
Alias: OTP. I am a mainline ‘shipper. Like, whatever the show wants me to root for, I am in its pocket. (Which is why the first season of Felicity is so confusing!) So I was a goner for Syd/Vaughn from day one. And then when Syd’s life fell in the shitter in season three and she found Will and they had spyventures, I was happy that they could have their moment, but I knew that she and Vaughn would get it together eventually. Which was why I had an irrational hatred for Vaughn/Lauren, but only as a plot device because I felt it insulted the collective intelligence of the audience. I felt like Sydney really had two perfect matches in the two of them (Will and Vaughn, not Vaughn and Lauren), because they were both so blandly perfect in their own ways.
Parks and Rec. OTP. THERE ARE SO MANY ANSWERS TO THIS QUESTION. There is Ben/Leslie. Tops. There is BFF OTP Leslie/Ann. There is Andy/April. There is work wife/work husband OTP Ron/Leslie. There are the stooges Jean Ralphio/Tom. There is Leslie/waffles. And the only ship I hate is Leslie/sadness.
Parks and Rec is a "documentary." Granted, they play a little fast and loose with the format, but it suits the show in general and it's used incredibly well. And we have fanfic for the other stuff we do want to see. BUT WHAT IS THAT STUFF? Three things you'd want the cameras to catch if they were creepers like I'm about to be in my list. Reblog: go.
